Remind me, who are you?

How did you both first meet?

Amy: Ultimate frisbee during college. I’m a big fan of hanging out and also not hanging out, so I must’ve given him & other frisbee players a ride +/- 10 times throughout college.

Xavier: I would say we both met at UC San Diego, playing ultimate frisbee, but I never really hung out with Amy until after college. She would come visit my roommate Melissa and I would try to hang out with them during those times. I also made her a wind turbine which I thought she would call a winter vine for the longest of times.

How did the relationship start?

Amy: I’m also a big fan of intermingling my friend groups. The timeline doesn’t check out, but I felt like we were dating after several First Fridays (which happen only once a month..)

Xavier: I moved to Oakland in July of 2017 for a new job. I knew Amy lived in San Francisco, so I messaged her to see if she wanted to hang out my first week in Oakland. I remember going to her apartment, and her telling me to let myself in. As I walked through the door and looked towards the balcony, I could see her head peep out framed by the bay. We hung out on that balcony for a couple of hours and as I left for home, I thought to myself that I could see us together. Within that next month, we had started dating.

What do you love about your spouse?

Amy: He’s incredibly thoughtful, thinks I’m funny, and puts up with my antics even though he doesn’t have to. I feel the most me when I’m with him.

Xavier: I love that Amy lets me be who I am. She’s allowed me to explore hobbies and ideas that I probably wouldn’t try without her support. She will let me just do things like grow my hair out, plan a bike camping trip to Bodega Bay, bake McDonald’s apple pies for her late grandma (RIP grandma ♥), and so much more.

And if I ever want to start a soup and pizza bike shop, Amy said she would totally support me. Thanks Amy!
